RECYCLE REPURPOSE REIMAGINE

“This box is now made with less material” is a very familiar Amazon’s new slogan found on their new and improved packaging boxes. Less material, less waste, less harm to our environment. As an artist and an architect, I have always been very conscious of the materials used in my projects and have strived for sustainability whenever possible.

Reusing and repurposing material for my art has become an exciting journey of creating stories and joy through art. “This ART is now made with less material” is a series of whimsical miniatures using acrylic and graphite on recycled cardboard. To recycle, repurpose and reimagine a simple cardboard box has motivated me to create the most recent series, titled “New York Miniatures”, which is a collection of 4”x 4” (8”x 8” framed) acrylic paintings inspired by my travels. From afar, the artwork installation does not reveal the use of material or the subject of inspiration. It is revealed only when a viewer comes close and immerses in each individual piece, making their own journey through the whimsical series of New York.
